So, we are entering that odd seasonal time of year where you daren’t buy anything summery as the weather is far from guaranteed yet don’t want to commit to buying a full on winter wardrobe.  In short, we are ‘trans’ seasonal. Whilst this time of year doesn’t last too long, we have a few tips for outfits that can be tweeked to suit – whatever the weather.

Whilst you might be unsure what the new trend for the coming season is, you really can’t go wrong with a heavy print or alternatively checked tartan.  Animal prints will also feature heavily as a key seasonal autumnal trend moving forward.  Pair a printed checked dress with either coloured heels or opt for long autumnal boots.  We recommend our Marble turtle neck dress or our Joe Browns ‘Wild Thing’ dress.

If you’re looking to get your summer wardrobe ready for the transition into autumn then we’ve got some tips for the season ahead.

Begin by going through your current wardrobe (something that needs doing usually at the start of every season).  Be conscious of what you have already and what you might need for a change in the weather for autumn.

Identify the clothes that are ‘high traffic’ eg. the ones that you wear most regularly.  Be aware of work clothes that will possibly fit into this category and give them prime position within your wardrobe, this will save time on busy autumn mornings.

Store any accessories close to your wardrobe.  If you can’t access it easily then you won’t wear it quite simply.

Plan outfits in advance where you can.  This sounds like an arduous process but its worth doing and a positive way to start the week. The summer to autumn season can be exceptionally changeable so refer to local weather forecasts or apps!

Differentiate your clothes into colours and types.  This will make you very aware of any habit tendencies that you might have and avoid future unnecessary purchases which can become costly.

As the Mother of the Bride or Groom it’s finally your time to shine – and look gorgeous to boot.

We believe the most important things to bear in mind when choosing your outfit should be:

• shape – go for a style that most flatters your figure
• colour – more important than being on trend is choosing a shade that suits you and that you are confident in
• the Bride’s preference – it’s her special day so ask her what she’d like to see you wear!

Most weddings are planned two years ahead – if you rush to buy your outfit it may be slightly out of fashion by the time the wedding comes around.  For example, whilst fascinators were the done thing in 2017 we have seen a move away from them this year and a welcome return to hats.

Length is another consideration, with the most flattering being to the base of the knees thereby from a side view, it cuts at the slimmest part of the leg and front on it hides your knees.

Some weddings held late afternoon or early evening dictate long frocks. Location is also going to influence your choice of outfit. If your daughter is marrying in a church in Scotland, even in August, you will not consider wearing the same as for a wedding in Italy.

Choices are leaning toward bright shades like yellow and soft hues like lavender.  For those nervous about yellow don’t panic, neutrals are still going to be popular.

From the runways of Calvin Klein to Marc Jacobs, orange was one of those unexpected hues predicted to make a comeback for Spring/Summer 2018.  Though some of us can literally count on one hand the number of orange items we own (currently zero), the revival of the tone might just convince us all to expand our wardrobe colour palette.

Call it mustard, marigold, or lemon — all these tones fall into the yellow category. If you have as much yellow clothing as you do orange (aka not much), start small. Invest in accessories that come in this shade to dip into the trend.

We can’t call out the newest big colour trends without mentioning lavender. A handful of designers have incorporated the colour into looks, giving us a fresh eye for how to wear it. In fact, the fresh combination of mint and lavender is proving incredibly popular.

Neutrals are wearable shades that pop up season after season and continue to be a popular choice for all.  For this season 2018, the tones appeared on menswear-inspired pieces, offering unisex clothing anyone can wear. Retailers are expected to offer more brown, beige, and cream-coloured pieces in 2018.  Mix two versatile colours like beige and black together for an easy look.
